Description

A nostalgic dessert featuring tender cake soaked in strawberry jello, topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries.


Ingredients

  • 1 box white cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup strawberry jello mix
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup whipped cream or Cool Whip
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the cake mix instructions.
  2. Combine the white cake mix, 1 cup of water, 1/3 cup of vegetable oil, and the 3 eggs in a mixing bowl.
  3. Beat the mixture until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch cake pan.
  5. Bake according to the package instructions.
  6. Remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
  7. Poke holes all over the cake using a fork.
  8. Dissolve the strawberry jello mix in 1 cup of boiling water in a separate bowl.
  9. Pour the jello mixture over the cake.
  10. Chill the cake in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
  11. Dollop with whipped cream or Cool Whip before serving and sprinkle with fresh strawberry slices.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 4-5 days. Optionally freeze for up to 3 months.
