Ingredients

Scale

Cabbage and Garlic Butter

  • 1 large green cabbage
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon fine salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Cheeseburger Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ small yellow onion, finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Up to ½ teaspoon fine salt, to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar
  • 4 slices cooked bacon, crumbled, optional

Serving

  • ¼ cup chopped dill pickles
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
  • ¼ cup burger sauce or Thousand Island dressing, optional

Instructions

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Prepare a rimmed baking sheet or shallow dish and arrange wedges on stable cut surfaces with space between.
  • Combine butter, garlic, oil, paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush over cabbage and between some layers.
  • Roast until nearly tender, checking after 20–25 minutes and allowing around 30–45 minutes as needed. Cover dark edges loosely if centers remain firm.
  • Meanwhile, cook beef and onion 7–9 minutes until beef reaches 160°F. Drain. Add Worcestershire, mustard, powders, and pepper; season to taste and cook 1 minute.
  • Spoon warm filling over tender wedges. Add cheddar and optional cooked bacon.
  • Bake another 5–8 minutes until cheese melts and cabbage is fully fork-tender.
  • Rest briefly and add pickles, green onions, and optional sauce just before serving.
  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: Approximately 35–50 minutes, sometimes longer for thick wedges
