Berry Watermelon Frozen Dog Snacks

  • Author: Luna

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 2 cups seedless watermelon, cubed – Provides natural sweetness and a high water content for hydration.
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries, hulled – Adds antioxidants and natural sweetness.
  • ½ cup fresh or frozen blueberries – Adds additional antioxidants and a pop of color.
  • 1 cup plain unsweetened Greek yogurt – Adds protein, calcium, and gut-friendly probiotics.
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter (xylitol-free) – Adds an irresistible flavor boost. Always double-check the label for xylitol before use.

Optional Add-Ins

Customize your berry watermelon snacks with any of these dog-safe extras:

  • ½ ripe banana – Adds natural sweetness, potassium, and a smoother, creamier texture.
  • 2 tbsp pumpkin purée – Supports digestive health and adds extra fiber. Use plain canned pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened coconut water – Adds extra hydration and natural electrolytes.
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed – A source of omega-3 fatty acids that may support skin and coat health.
  • A few fresh mint leaves – Adds a subtle, refreshing flavor note. Use sparingly and in moderation.

Instructions

This refreshing recipe comes together with just a few minutes of hands-on prep time.

Step 1: Blend the Base Ingredients

Add the watermelon, strawberries, blueberries, Greek yogurt, and peanut butter to a blender or food processor.

Step 2: Blend Until Smooth

Blend the mixture until it’s completely smooth and creamy, with no chunks of fruit remaining.

Step 3: Stir in Optional Add-Ins

If you’re using any optional add-ins, such as banana, pumpkin purée, coconut water, flaxseed, or fresh mint, gently stir them into the blended mixture by hand. This helps distribute chunkier ingredients evenly throughout the mixture.

Step 4: Fill Your Molds

Pour the mixture into silicone paw-print molds, bone-shaped molds, or a standard ice cube tray, depending on what you have on hand and the treat size you’d like.

Step 5: Remove Air Bubbles

Tap the filled molds gently on the counter a few times to release any trapped air bubbles, resulting in a smoother, more solid finished treat.

Step 6: Freeze Until Firm

Place the molds in the freezer and freeze for 4–6 hours, or until the treats are completely firm all the way through.

Step 7: Pop and Store

Once frozen, remove the snacks from their molds and transfer them to an airtight, freezer-safe container to maintain freshness and prevent freezer burn.

Step 8: Serve as a Cool Reward

Serve one or two frozen snacks as a cool reward or refreshing treat on warm days, after playtime, or any time your pup needs to cool down.
