Banana Oat Frozen Dog Snacks

  • Author: Luna

Ingredients

Scale

Base Ingredients

  • 1 ripe banana – Adds natural sweetness, potassium, and a smooth texture.
  • 1 cup plain unsweetened Greek yogurt – Provides protein, calcium, and gut-friendly probiotics.
  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats – Adds fiber and a heartier texture.
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter (xylitol-free) – Adds a flavor dogs love. Always double-check the label for xylitol before use.

Optional Add-Ins

Customize your frozen snacks with any of these dog-safe extras:

  • 2 tbsp pumpkin purée – Supports digestive health and adds extra fiber. Use plain canned pumpkin, not pumpkin pie filling.
  • ¼ cup blueberries – Adds antioxidants and a burst of natural sweetness.
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce – Adds moisture and natural sweetness without added sugar.
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed – A source of omega-3 fatty acids that may support skin and coat health.
  • 2 tbsp finely shredded carrots – Adds crunch, fiber, and beta-carotene.

Instructions

This recipe comes together in just a few simple steps.

Step 1: Blend the Base Ingredients

Add the banana, Greek yogurt, rolled oats, and peanut butter to a blender or food processor.

Step 2: Blend to Your Desired Texture

Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy. If you’d like a little texture from the oats, blend for a shorter amount of time or pulse the mixture instead of blending continuously.

Step 3: Stir in Optional Add-Ins

If you’re using any optional add-ins, like pumpkin purée, blueberries, applesauce, flaxseed, or shredded carrots, gently fold them into the blended mixture by hand. This helps distribute chunkier ingredients, like blueberries or carrots, more evenly throughout the mixture.

Step 4: Fill Your Molds

Spoon or pour the mixture into silicone paw-print molds, bone-shaped molds, or a standard ice cube tray, depending on what you have on hand and the size treat you’d like to make.

Step 5: Remove Air Bubbles

Tap the filled molds gently on the counter a few times to help release any trapped air bubbles, resulting in a smoother, more solid frozen treat.

Step 6: Freeze Until Firm

Place the molds in the freezer and freeze for 4–6 hours, or until the snacks are completely firm all the way through.

Step 7: Pop and Store

Once frozen, pop the treats out of their molds and transfer them to an airtight, freezer-safe container to keep them fresh and prevent freezer burn.

Step 8: Serve as a Cool Reward

Serve one or two frozen snacks as a refreshing reward on warm days, after playtime, or any time your pup deserves a little something special.
