Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp allspice
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, onion, egg, salt, pepper, nutmeg, and allspice. Mix until well combined.
  2. Form the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides.
  4. Remove the meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  6. Gradually whisk in beef broth and bring to a simmer. Cook until thickened.
  7. Stir in heavy cream and return the meatballs to the skillet. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  8. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or lingonberry sauce.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, you can use ground turkey instead of beef and pork.
  • Serve with a side of vegetables for a complete meal.
