Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon red food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon yellow food coloring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Wooden sticks for dipping

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert wooden sticks into the tops.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat.
  3. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Remove from heat and quickly stir in food coloring and vanilla extract.
  5. Dip each apple into the candy mixture, swirling to coat evenly.
  6. Place the coated apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.

Notes

  • Make sure to use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature readings.
  • Allow the candy coating to cool slightly before dipping the apples to prevent them from becoming too soft.
