Description

A decadent Strawberry French Toast Casserole, perfect for brunch gatherings, featuring layers of creamy custard-soaked bread and fresh strawberries.


Ingredients

  • 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Powdered sugar for serving (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the baking dish by greasing a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Cut the bread into bite-sized cubes and place half of the pieces in the prepared baking dish.
  4. Mix the custard by whisking together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
  5. Layer the casserole by pouring half of the custard mixture over the bread cubes and adding sliced strawberries, followed by the remaining bread cubes.
  6. Soak the casserole by gently pouring the rest of the custard over it, pressing down lightly.
  7. Chill the casserole covered for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  8. Bake for 45-55 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool for a few minutes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
