A decadent Strawberry French Toast Casserole, perfect for brunch gatherings, featuring layers of creamy custard-soaked bread and fresh strawberries.

- 1 loaf of bread (preferably brioche or challah)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
- Powdered sugar for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare the baking dish by greasing a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
- Cut the bread into bite-sized cubes and place half of the pieces in the prepared baking dish.
- Mix the custard by whisking together the eggs, milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until smooth.
- Layer the casserole by pouring half of the custard mixture over the bread cubes and adding sliced strawberries, followed by the remaining bread cubes.
- Soak the casserole by gently pouring the rest of the custard over it, pressing down lightly.
- Chill the casserole covered for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
- Bake for 45-55 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Cool for a few minutes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
This casserole can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.
