Description
A comforting one-pan meal featuring pasta coated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce, complemented by juicy sausage.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 ounces pasta (Rotini or penne)
- 1 pound sausage (Italian, chicken, or turkey)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the pasta: Start by bringing a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, remembering to reserve a little pasta water for later if needed.
- Sauté the sausage: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the sausage, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until it browns and is fully cooked, about 8-10 minutes.
- Add garlic: Once the sausage is browned, add the minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for about a minute, stirring constantly until fragrant.
- Create the sauce: Pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring to coat the sausage in this mix. Allow it to come to a simmer, cooking for about 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Combine with pasta: Gently place the cooked pasta into the skillet, tossing everything together until the pasta is enveloped in the sauce. If it looks too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water.
- Season and garnish: Season with salt and pepper to your liking. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top before serving.
Notes
To make ahead, cook the pasta and sausage in advance. For a vegetarian version, substitute sausage with veggies like mushrooms and bell peppers.
