These festive chocolate chip cookie bars combine rich flavors with a playful twist of green, perfect for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
- Optional: green food coloring
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9×13 inch baking pan. For extra ease, you can line it with parchment paper too.
- Whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a mixing bowl; set this aside.
- Cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated, then add in the vanilla extract and mix thoroughly. If you’re going for festive flair, stir in green food coloring until you reach your desired shade.
- Gradually mix in the dry flour mixture until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
- Spread the batter evenly into your prepared pan.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown edges form and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let cool before slicing into bars.
