Description

Delicious Spicy Cajun Crab Poppers with a crispy exterior and a creamy crab filling, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound crab meat
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying (optional)
  • Cooking spray (for baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven or heat oil: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) for baking or heat the oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the filling: In a large mixing bowl, combine the crab meat, cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix until well incorporated.
  3. Shape the poppers: Using a cookie scoop or your hands, shape the mixture into small balls.
  4. Coat with breadcrumbs: Roll each ball in breadcrumbs until thoroughly coated. For baking, arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and lightly spray the tops; for frying, set them aside before dropping into hot oil.
  5. Cook to perfection: Bake for 20-25 minutes, or fry for about 4-6 minutes until golden brown.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.

Notes

Make-ahead by preparing the filling a day in advance; use an air fryer for a healthier option.
