Description
Spicy Bread & Butter Pickles are a zesty and flavorful twist on the classic sweet and tangy pickles, perfect for sandwiches, burgers, or as a snack.
Ingredients

- 4 cups cucumbers, sliced
- 1 cup onions, thinly sliced
- 1 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard seeds
- 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the cucumbers and onions. Sprinkle with salt and let sit for 1 hour.
- In a saucepan, combine apple cider vinegar, sugar, mustard seeds, red pepper flakes, turmeric, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Drain the cucumbers and onions, then add them to the boiling vinegar mixture.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 30 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to sterilized jars and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving.
Notes
- For extra heat, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
- These pickles can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 months.
- Great as a topping for sandwiches or served alongside grilled meats.
