Ingredients

- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups water or chicken broth
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 slices bacon, chopped
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a pot, bring water or chicken broth to a boil and add grits. Cook according to package instructions until creamy.
- In a skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the skillet.
- Add shrimp to the skillet and season with paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook until shrimp are pink and cooked through.
- Add garlic and green onions to the skillet and sauté for an additional minute.
- Stir in the cooked grits and cheddar cheese until well combined.
- Serve the shrimp mixture over the cheesy grits and top with crispy bacon.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add cayenne pepper to the shrimp.
- Use vegetable broth for a vegetarian option.
- Grits can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
