Ingredients

  • 4 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Place the sliced onion and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Rub the pork shoulder with smoked paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
  3. Place the seasoned pork on top of the onions and garlic in the slow cooker.
  4. Pour the barbecue sauce over the pork.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
  6. Remove the pork from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
  7. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix it with the sauce.
  8. Serve on buns or with your favorite sides.
