- 2 pounds flank steak, sliced thinly
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon minced ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 green onions, chopped
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, water, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes.
- Place the sliced flank steak in the slow cooker.
- Pour the sauce mixture over the beef.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
- In the last 30 minutes of cooking, mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry and add it to the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
- Stir in the vegetable oil and green onions before serving.
Notes
- Serve over rice or noodles for a complete meal.
- Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less brown sugar.
- For a spicier version, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
