Description

Delicious and tender slow-cooked beef served on crusty rolls, perfect for dipping in savory au jus.


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef chuck roast
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 hoagie rolls
  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Instructions

  1. Place the beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.
  2. Add sliced onion and minced garlic on top of the roast.
  3. In a bowl, mix together beef broth, water, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, and black pepper; pour over the roast.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours or until the beef is tender.
  5. Remove the beef from the slow cooker and shred it with two forks.
  6. Return the shredded beef to the slow cooker and stir to combine with the juices.
  7. To serve, place a portion of the beef on a hoagie roll, top with provolone cheese, and serve with a side of au jus for dipping.

  • For extra flavor, sear the beef roast in a skillet before placing it in the slow cooker.
  • Feel free to add sliced bell peppers or mushrooms for additional toppings.
