A delicious recipe for oven braised beer brats topped with sweet caramelized onions, perfect for a hearty meal.
Ingredients

- 4 bratwurst sausages
- 1 cup beer (lager or ale)
- 2 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
- While the onions are cooking, place the bratwurst in a baking dish and pour the beer over them.
- Once the onions are caramelized, add them on top of the bratwurst in the baking dish.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the bratwurst are browned.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add some sliced jalapeños to the onions while caramelizing.
- Serve with crusty bread or in a bun for a complete meal.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
