Description

A delicious recipe for oven braised beer brats topped with sweet caramelized onions, perfect for a hearty meal.


Ingredients

  • 4 bratwurst sausages
  • 1 cup beer (lager or ale)
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they are soft and caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.
  3. While the onions are cooking, place the bratwurst in a baking dish and pour the beer over them.
  4. Once the onions are caramelized, add them on top of the bratwurst in the baking dish.
  5. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the bratwurst are browned.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add some sliced jalapeños to the onions while caramelizing.
  • Serve with crusty bread or in a bun for a complete meal.
