Description

A hearty and comforting casserole made with layers of seasoned ground beef, creamy potatoes, and topped with cheese and crispy bacon.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in salt, pepper, and paprika into the beef mixture.
  4. In a bowl, mix sour cream and milk until smooth.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, followed by half of the beef mixture, and half of the sour cream mixture.
  6. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and sour cream mixture.
  7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the beef mixture.
  • Can substitute ground turkey for a leaner option.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
