- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
Instructions
- Cook the macaroni according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Stir in the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika until smooth.
- Gradually whisk in the milk, cooking until the mixture thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and Parmesan cheese until melted.
- Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well.
- Transfer to a baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes, or until bubbly.
Notes
- For a crispy topping, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top before baking.
- Feel free to add cooked vegetables or proteins for added flavor.
