- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
- 1/2 cup sugar (for coating)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a saucepan, combine water, 2 tablespoons sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in flour until a dough forms.
- Let the dough cool slightly, then mix in the eggs one at a time until smooth.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
- Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them to your desired length.
- Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Mix 1/2 cup sugar with cinnamon in a bowl and coat the churros.
- For the chocolate sauce, heat heavy cream in a saucepan until simmering, then remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until melted and smooth.
- Serve churros warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent soggy churros.
- Churros are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for a day.
- Feel free to adjust the sugar and cinnamon coating to your taste.
