Description

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup diced ham
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the milk until just combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
  5. Fold in the diced ham and shredded cheese, along with fresh herbs if using.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth.
  7. Roll or pat the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
  8. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
