- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 cup diced ham
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the milk until just combined, being careful not to overwork the dough.
- Fold in the diced ham and shredded cheese, along with fresh herbs if using.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1 inch thick and cut out biscuits using a round cutter.
- Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
