Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the milk.
  4. Combine flour, baking powder, salt, and ground cinnamon in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the dry mixture to the creamed mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  7. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture over the batter.
  8. Pour the remaining batter over the cinnamon layer.
  9. Top with the rest of the cinnamon-brown sugar mixture.
  10. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  11. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

Make the batter a night ahead for convenience. Let it come to room temperature before baking.
