Description
Delicious gourmet candy-coated caramel apples that are perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium apples
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup candy coating (various colors)
- Chopped nuts or sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert sticks into the tops.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, butter, corn syrup, vanilla, and salt over medium heat.
- Stir until the mixture reaches a soft ball stage (around 240°F or 115°C).
- Remove from heat and dip each apple into the caramel, coating evenly.
- Allow excess caramel to drip off and place the apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Once the caramel has set, melt the candy coating and dip the apples again for a colorful finish.
- Sprinkle with nuts or sprinkles if desired, and let cool completely.
Notes
- Use tart apples for a nice contrast with the sweet caramel.
- Make sure the apples are at room temperature for better caramel adherence.
- Store in a cool, dry place to prevent the caramel from becoming sticky.
