Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh blood orange juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup champagne or sparkling wine
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Combine the fresh blood orange juice and sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Cool the mixture to room temperature.
  3. Mix in the champagne and lemon juice.
  4. Freeze the mixture in a shallow container for about 2 hours, stirring every 30 minutes with a fork.
  5. Final freeze until firm, which may take another 2-4 hours.
  6. Serve in chilled bowls or glasses, garnished with mint if desired.

Notes

Make the sorbet up to a week in advance and store in an airtight container. Allow it to sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping for the best texture.
