Description

A Deconstructed Sushi Rice Bowl is a fresh and vibrant dish that combines the flavors of traditional sushi in a convenient bowl format, making it easy to enjoy.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, julienned
  • 1 carrot, shredded
  • 1/2 pound cooked shrimp or crab meat
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • Nori sheets, cut into strips

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water, and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.
  4. In a small bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
  5. Once the rice is cooked, remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.
  6. Fluff the rice with a fork and gently mix in the vinegar mixture.
  7. In serving bowls, layer the sushi rice, avocado, cucumber, carrot, and shrimp or crab meat.
  8. Drizzle with soy sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds and nori strips.
