Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
  3. Pour the batter into the crockpot.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar and hot water until dissolved, then pour over the batter in the crockpot.
  5. If using, sprinkle chocolate chips on top.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 2-3 hours or until the cake is set and the fudge sauce is bubbling.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Make sure to not lift the lid during cooking to ensure even baking.
  • For a richer flavor, add a pinch of espresso powder to the batter.
