Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk
  • Red and pink sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, and baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
  6. Add buttermilk until the dough is soft but not sticky.
  7. Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into heart shapes.
  8. Place cookies on a baking sheet and sprinkle with red and pink sprinkles.
  9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  10. Let cool before serving.
