- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup pumpkin puree
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon (for swirl)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, mix the sourdough starter, warm water, and pumpkin puree until well combined.
- Add the all-purpose flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt to the mixture and stir until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
- Once risen, roll the dough out into a rectangle and spread melted butter over it.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the buttered dough.
- Roll the dough tightly and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of white sugar.
- Ensure your sourdough starter is active for the best results.
- This bread can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
