- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder

- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with paper liners.
- Combine the sourdough starter, flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Whisk together the milk, vegetable oil, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix gently.
- Fold in the chocolate chips carefully to maintain fluffiness.
- Scoop the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each liner about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool in the tin for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
Notes
For a richer flavor, consider using Dutch-process cocoa powder. To store, keep in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
