- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup pecans, chopped
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat milk and butter until warm. Remove from heat and stir in sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
- In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and egg, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
- In a separate bowl, mix brown sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla extract. Pour this mixture into a greased baking dish.
- Sprinkle chopped pecans over the caramel mixture in the baking dish.
- Roll out the dough and spread with butter, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon if desired.
- Roll the dough tightly and cut into slices. Place the slices in the baking dish over the caramel and pecans.
- Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving, then invert onto a serving platter.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon to the dough.
- These buns are best served warm.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
