- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1–2 tbsp milk
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Brown the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden brown, then let it cool slightly.
- Combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl, then beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt) in another bowl, then gradually add this to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Bake in the prepared dish for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Whisk together maple syrup, powdered sugar, and milk for the glaze.
- Glaze the bars with the maple glaze after they have cooled for about 10 minutes.
