Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 12 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Brown the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden brown, then let it cool slightly.
  3. Combine the browned butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar in a mixing bowl, then beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt) in another bowl, then gradually add this to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  5. Bake in the prepared dish for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Whisk together maple syrup, powdered sugar, and milk for the glaze.
  7. Glaze the bars with the maple glaze after they have cooled for about 10 minutes.
