Description

A creamy, rich dish combining cheesy goodness with the savory crunch of crispy bacon for a comforting experience.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 4 strips of bacon
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the macaroni in salted water until al dente, usually around 7-9 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. Crisp the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, then crumble it.
  3. Create the roux by melting butter in the skillet and whisking in flour until golden.
  4. Add the milk gradually, stirring until thickened.
  5. Melt the cheese into the sauce, adding garlic powder and seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Combine the macaroni with the cheese sauce and fold in the crumbled bacon.
  7. Bake in a dish with breadcrumbs for a crispy topping, broil for 2-3 minutes if desired.
  8. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in vegetables or different cheese varieties. This dish can be made vegetarian by omitting bacon.
