Ingredients

- 1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
- ½ teaspoon baking powder
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- ¼ cup pureed blueberries (fresh or frozen)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon honey (optional)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tablespoon homemade peanut butter (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and baking powder.
- If using, whisk in the cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, combine the applesauce, egg, and honey (and peanut butter if using), whisking until smooth.
- Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- Divide the dough into two portions and knead the pureed blueberries into one half.
- Roll out the dough to about ¼-inch thick.
- Use a bone-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes.
- Transfer the treats onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until golden.
- Cool completely before serving or storing.
Notes
Store treats in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze for longer storage.
